UW Construction Management Hall of Fame inducts Foundation’s Executive Director Diane Kocer

We are honored to share that Executive Director, Diane Kocer has been inducted into the UW Construction Management Hall of Fame. This award recognizes individuals for their contributions to the construction industry.

This award will be presented to Diane along with two other inductees Rick Hermanson, Hermanson Company, and Darlene Septelka, FDBIA at a celebration on May 10.

The UW Construction Industry Hall of Fame was established in 1995 as a way to acknowledge those who have demonstrated their professionalism through active support of the industry, education, civic responsibility, and community involvement, and as a way to elevate the accomplishments of the construction industry as a whole.  The UW Department of Construction Management, the Construction Industry Advisory Council, and the Construction Management Alumni Association provide a nomination process that culminated in the naming of inductees.

Serving as the Executive Director of the AGC Education Foundation since 2009, Diane has embodied its mission in every way. She has built countless programs that introduce students k-12 to construction including Core Plus Construction, Build Your Future, and programs that train and place people directly into jobs. She has fundraised and delivered a scholarship program for hundreds of students in 2 and 4-year programs, roughly a third of whom are University of Washington students. Each year she invests in new class offerings to train and upskill current construction professionals. Over three hundred courses are offered annually with a focus on leadership development for all construction career levels.

While Diane is known and respected for her leadership and relationship-building, what sets her apart is her progressive and strategic approach to building inclusive and impactful programs. Diane has envisioned and brought to life an outstanding number of programs. Her ability to do this, repeatedly, has advanced the industry. These programmatic successes are demonstrated in the professional successes of its participants, and their history of ‘giving back’.  This is Diane’s underlying talent; to help people realize and meet their potential.

In her tenure, Diane has immeasurably strengthened the Foundation; established named endowments have doubled, continuing education classes have increased and are always adapting to new trends, and new programs have been strategically developed to best serve students and the industry. And, has made the Foundation a wonderful place to be a part of and work.

In addition to her work at the Foundation, Diane serves on boards and in volunteer leadership roles, all primarily focused on providing equitable education for all.

Diane Kocer is an outstanding industry leader who has had a remarkable impact. She is most deserving of this Hall of Fame honor.
