Larry Johnson Memorial Fund

In loving memory to an industry legend and dear friend to the AGC Education Foundation and the AGC of Washington

Larry was a proud graduate of the University of Washington in Civil/Structural Engineering. He was a very intelligent and skilled professional who started Prime Construction.  He was an early founder of the AGC Education Foundation, an organization that serves to promote and develop construction careers through education and training. The Foundation awards annual scholarships in Larry’s name from the Larry Johnson/Prime Construction Endowment Fund which was established in 1997.  Countless students have benefited from his generosity.  Additionally, numerous young, emerging construction professionals can boast about the many lessons learned and academic coaching received from Larry.  He served as the first cost estimating instructor at the UW when their construction program was first started in 1964.  Larry’s impact on the industry, the AGC Education Foundation, and the AGC of Washington was immense. We will always remember Larry as we drive south on I-5 admiring the AGC of Washington Building on Westlake Avenue North. He designed and built the brackets that hold the gold letters “AGC” on the building as well as the Presidents’ Waterfall, that graces the lower entrance of the building, to honor all past and future AGC presidents. Most importantly, Larry Johnson was a kind, quiet, generous, and humble man who was admired and loved by many colleagues, family members, and dear friends.

Rest in peace Larry Johnson.
